What a certificate shows
- The type of stone (for example natural corundum, variety yellow sapphire).
- Weight in carat and measurements.
- Whether treatment was detected.
- Sometimes origin, if the lab states it.
- A report number and often a photograph.
Look for a recognised laboratory
Recognised Indian and international laboratories include GII, IGI and labs approved by GJEPC. Ask which lab issued the report and check that the report number is real on the lab's own verification page.
Match the report to the stone
Check that the weight, measurements and photo match the stone you receive. A certificate belongs to one stone only.
What a certificate does not do
It does not say a stone will suit you and does not promise any result. It describes the stone, nothing more.
