Natural, untreated
The stone is mined and cut, with no treatment to change its colour or clarity. These are the rarest and usually the costliest.
Natural, heated
The stone is natural but has been heated to improve colour or clarity. Heating of sapphire and ruby is very common and accepted in the trade when declared.
Natural, oiled
Emeralds are often lightly oiled to make small surface cracks less visible. This is common and accepted when declared.
Treated
Treatments such as dyeing, glass filling, irradiation or diffusion change the stone more strongly. They lower the value and must always be stated.
Synthetic (lab-created)
A lab-created stone has the same chemistry as a natural one but is made in a laboratory. It is real material, not natural, and is priced far lower. It must be labelled as lab-created.

सिंथेटिक (लैब में बना)
लैब में बने पत्थर का रासायनिक संगठन प्राकृतिक जैसा ही होता है, पर वह प्रयोगशाला में बनता है। यह असली पदार्थ है, प्राकृतिक नहीं, और इसकी क़ीमत बहुत कम होती है। इसे लैब-निर्मित के रूप में लेबल किया जाना ज़रूरी है।
